Tired of being bombarded by dull discount deals, valueless vouchers and boring BOGOFs from high street chain restaurants, he started to imagine a world in which foodies with a properly good taste could genuinely be rewarded for their loyalty to – and support of – their favourite restaurants. One year on (having won the Bath Business Plan competition supported by Bath University, Deloitte and Enterprise Bath and attracted over £82,000 in a crowdfunding pitch on Crowdcube, no less) and LUX Rewards – which James describes as “the air miles of the fine dining market” – launches in Bristol and Bath. And this is how it works:
You download the free app from the LUX Rewards website, Google Play or Apple’s App Store. You make a booking at a LUX-participating restaurant. When you’ve finished your meal, you enter the amount you paid for your bill and start saving points towards your luxury reward, which includes fabulous options such as Ferrari Race Track experience, luxurious spa days, afternoon tea at a glamorous hotel, and many more unique ideas. The more you eat out at the LUX-listed restaurants, the more points you accrue; the more points you accrue, the more fun you’ll have.
